Recipe Club Membership Website Video Walkthrough

We’re sharing in this post some of the details from the membership website we built for Kelsey Nixon’s Recipe Club (one of our absolute favorite websites!).

Kelsey’s simple dinner system helps families meal plan and prep so they can more easily cook and connect with each other. Bonus: her recipes are absolutely delicious! 🍽️

We transferred Recipe Club from the Kartra platform to a completely custom WordPress build in order to create the space and flexibility for Kelsey to grow her membership and better connect with her members.

Would this switch actually be the best solution? We thoroughly researched other membership platforms and came to the conclusion that a custom WordPress build would allow for the most flexibility in regard to both visuals and functionality.

No page builders needed! We used the MemberPress plugin (highly customized) and coded the rest to fit the aesthetic and user experience we were going for.

Since the platform switch, Recipe Club has seen 60% growth in recurring, active members – not to mention a 110% increase in average per month signups. 🎉

After launch we added a more extensive shop (built on Shopify), an ever-expanding custom meal planner with shopping list (still adding to it as customers use the platform and provide feedback) as well as a loyalty program to add value and retain members.

What our process looked like:

• Research membership platforms
• Sketch out wireframes to figure out the user flow/experience
• Present designs of most important pages
• Set-up WordPress with MemberPress integration
• Custom code the designs and customize needed plugins to match (MemberPress, recipe cards + meal planner)
• Launch in test stages for user feedback
